For as long as she can remember, Odette has always had an immense passion for the performing arts, in acting and dance as well as singing.
The realization of wanting to be involved in the music industry came from one of her primary school teachers, who was a musician herself. After that, Odette started taking proper vocal lessons, increasing her yearning to be a part of such a fascinating industry.
Her influences come from all different time frames; the classics such as Nina Simone, Etta James and Michael Jackson, to also very modern artists like Beyoncé, Solange, Willow Smith, Drake, and Frank Ocean. She likes to describe her genre and music style as “a little bit of everything”, but predominately jazz, soul, RnB and chill.
Her debut single “A Story of Hatred”, is a song very personal to Odette and her beliefs. It talks about how people who are considered “different”, whether it be from their creativity, interests, culture, race, sexuality etc. are judged and criticised based on those traits, and sometimes created conflict or war over them.
